Personnel Unit

The Personnel Unit, is responsible for handling all personnel matters such as transfers, disciplinary actions, retirements, performance evaluations, and the promotional and applicant processes.  The Personnel Unit acts as liaison for the police department with both the Police Merit Commission and the Southwest Indiana Law Enforcement Academy.

Monitoring the progress of new officers during their probationary year is the responsibility of the Personnel Unit. New officers are sent to the Southwest Indiana Law Enforcement Academy in Evansville for three months. During the remaining nine months of their probationary period, new officers are trained in all units of the department.
