The goal of the Citizen’s Academy is to give members of the community an inside look at the various units of the police department and to create better understanding and communication between citizens and police through education.
This is an opportunity for the citizens of the community to know more about the men and women who are protecting their community and why they make the decisions they do. The Academy also presents an opportunity for the citizens to voice any comments or concerns directly to the department.
Members of the department will be instructing each session and will be covering topics relevant to the units in which they work.
Exciting News!!! The Citizens Academy has now been increased to 10 weeks with the addition of 4 new presentations from the Juvenile Unit, Financial Crimes Unit, Crime Prevention Unit and Public Affairs with an informal Q & A session on graduation night with the Chief, Prosecutor and Mayor. The Academy will begin on March 31st and conclude on June 2nd after 10 weeks of the extremely interesting information. Of course, there is limited seating, so register early and please share with anyone who might be interested. With your help of spreading the word, this program just continues to get bigger and better and that is much appreciated.
The next Citizen's Academy session will begin on March 31st, 2015 and end on June 2nd, 2015.
